Chesterton Quotes

Here are some quotes from one of my favorite writers, G. K. Chesterton, (in my opinion one of the greatest writers of the 20th century).

“Love means loving the unlovable – or it is no virtue at all.” – Heretics, 1905

“Fallacies do not cease to be fallacies because they become fashions.” – Illustrated London News, 4/19/30

“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.” – ILN, 1/14/11

“When a politician is in opposition he is an expert on the means to some end; and when he is in office he is an expert on the obstacles to it.” – ILN, 4/6/18

“Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die.” – Orthodoxy, 1908
